lol @ Yankees in 4 or 5
We'll see how Pedro pitches in game 2. I think the Phils took that advantage the Yankees had by winning game 1. Yanks 'pen looks even more suspect now. I think the Phillies beat Burnett tomorrow then lose game 3 to Pettitte. CC threw almost 120 pitches last night, but I'm thinking they'll bring him back for game 4, not sure if the Phillies will do the same with Lee. Can't really do much predicting without knowing the pitching match-ups the rest of the way and any game that puts CC against Lee again will be a toss up. Phillies remind me of the those Yankee teams from the late 90's and early 2000's, they just seem to know how to win.

Ummm ... I think Yanks will win the next 4 gms ... I stand by Yanks in 5 ...
and even if they lose tonight, fuck what you heard ... they lost gms 1 and 2 vs. the Braves in '96 and ppl were saying how much better Atl was than NY and that yanks would get swept ... then what happened Dalice? We won the next 4 ...
As far as this Phillies team, I understand that they might remind you of the Yank dynasty, but I wouldn't even start to compare the Philly team this/last yr to the late 90's-2000 Yankee dynasty ... first off, NY had 4 championships in 6 WS and Philly has 1/2 WS in 2 ... and the '98 team has the single reg/postseason record for most wins which is big ...
I personally think that the Redox team feat. Pedro, Manny, papi, etc. that won 2 WS in 4 yrs is a better team than the Phillies have right now ... mainly b/c they had much better starting pitching, they already won 2 WS, and they had to compete w/ the Yankees so often ...
Just to play devil's advocate, the Phils do have by far the best NL offense I've ever seen, possibly only currently bested by the Yanks offense, and they could win this yr, and I presume they'll make another run next yr ... I'm only going by what's already been established ...
Bottom line though, don't take the most recent Yankee dynasty for granted.

lol @ that
I watched highlights of the '96 series the other day... ugh... Y'all got lucky that year. Smoltz lost a 1 - 0 game against Pettitte, only run was off an error. Game 3 or 4 I think it was the Braves were raping the Yankees like they had been raping everyone and an umpire got in the way of an outfielder causing him to not catch a fly and 3 or 4 runs scored in the inning, allowing them to come back. Fuck that series.
lol @ Cliff Lee making the Yankees amazing offense look like a triple A team last night
lol @ AJ's strikeout/walk ratio
I think there's a chance Pedro gets bombed and doesn't last 5 innings, AJ might not be able to find the strike zone, could end up a slugfest
lol @ 6 - 1 victory in Yankee stadium against their best pitcher
Saints game is Monday night. My DVR's gonna be working overtime and I bet money whichever game I watch first updates me on the other... balls

lol @ your three best pitchers... are you talking to the Phillies or me? They're not mine.
Last night was a good game. Matsui hit a good pitch over that joke of a wall in right field, fly out in just about every other park. Phillies fucked up not getting to Rivera when they had the chance. Ryan Howard has been nonexistant, so has A-Rod.
lol @ Pedro walking back to the dugout so slowly after being yanked (No pun intended) that it looked like he needed to shit
lol @ The Phillies not being able to pitch Cliff Lee 7 times in a row
lol @ Me just realizing last night just how much the umpires decide games
Hamels has been garbage... Burnett showed up last night, dude was hitting the corners with everything. Yankees win tomorrow I think. We'll see if Lee or CC come back for game 4.

Phillies are going with Blanton in game 4. Yankees will go with CC I bet. Yanks win tomorrow and game 4, go up 3 - 2, then lose to Cliff Lee in game 6. I'm guessing Pettitte or Burnett against Pedro in game 7... unless they go with CC again, wonder if they'll still use him in game 4.

Last night was pretty bad. Hamel's has sucked, I figured they'd lose tonight, didn't bank on AJ having such a good showing in game 2 though. Looks like he'll be back for game 5 against Cliff Lee too. I'm guessing CC wins tonight, Lee tomorrow, then Phillie has to hope Pedro can get them to game 7 where I hope they'd throw Lee on short rest.
Hate the Yankees lol

Assuming the Yankees win tonight (which I'm virtually certain they will with Sabathia vs. Blanton), I think NY will throw Chad Gaudin against Cliff Lee ... the thinking being that god wouldn't be able to beat Lee this playoffs ... if they lose tonight, then the series is tied and the Yanks will probably throw Burnett on short rest tmr out of desperation as opposed to full rest plus on Wedensday ... either way though, I think Philly is done ... the only question is in 5 or 6 gms ... or more specifically, after NY wins today, will Lee go 9 innings in gm 5 or will he exit in the later innings and the Phily bp gives it up.
p.s. They and I hate you.

I'd hate to be a Yankee fan, with the payroll and players anything less than winning the series is a bust, and if they do win then it's "of course they won, look at their payroll".
New York Yankees $201,449,189
New York Mets $149,373,987
Chicago Cubs $134,809,000
Boston Red Sox $121,745,999
Detroit Tigers $115,085,145
Los Angeles Angels $113,709,00
Philadelphia Phillies $113,004,046
6 or 7 games to close this out?
I win

If I was a Yankee fan or a player who came via free agency I would feel the championship I'd won was cheapened. Coming up with a team and building it into something is dope.
I respected the Yankee teams from the late 90's, they built their teams with young players and a few key free agents. This team is everything that's wrong with baseball not having a cap.
Tex, A-Rod, CC, Burnett... it's something to win a championship regardless, but it's just gay they went about building this team imo.

Just a few free agent signings, huh? ... crucial starters Jimmy Key, David Cone, David Wells, & Roger Clemens, John Wettland (closer), Paul O'neil, Tino Martinez ... to name a few ...
home grown players: Pettite, Jeter, Mo, Bernie, Posada, and not much else worth mention ...
might wanna check u'r facts buddy.
p.s. All the $ the Yankees spend on free agents does indeed "cheapen" their success ... and ... who gives a flying fuck? Our cheapened success outweighs any team's non-cheapend success by leaps and bounds.

Thanks for setting me straight on just how bought all the Yankee's recent (90's on) success is.
I grew up playing sports and participating in sportsmanship. Call it corny or whatever, but if when we picked teams or coaches picked players for little league (Which they do) we/they picked all the best players for one team it wouldn't be fun. The MLB is a business, so I'm not saying I blame the Yankees players or fans for what they do with the rules and their earned money, but from a competitive stand point it's not what sports are supposed to be about. I find it to be sad that Yankee fans push sportsmanship to the side for the cheapened comfort of "We won, so what if we bought it". It's a matter of perspective, I know. If the Braves went out and got the 5 best free agents on the market I'd be slap happy, it doesn't change the principle of it being wrong, especially not for such an extended run of buying wins like it is with the Yankees.
But yeah, they won. In 6 games with a $200 million plus payroll.

I somewhat understand your point, but I don't think your usage of "sportsmanship" is 100% accurate/applicable to this particulare situation ... maybe that's a semantical issue, but in terms of actual on-field sportsmanship, the Yankees are as profesional as they come insofar as how they conduct themselves, their attitudes/goals, and respect for the opposition.
