So consider this a site wide challenge...

Can someone name a black rapper that doesnt have the lyrical ability of a special ed 4th grader?

Granted I havent listened to every black rapper out there... so they are not ALL bad.. before someone starts trying to throw racist in my general direction... and there are a few exceptions on black rappers that I have heard, some I like... bust most are mainstream buffoons.

If the rapper can catagorized as mainstream or "Gangsta" do not bother listing them... for the obvious reason that they are probably booty...

so go ahead.. and list away... I will post back with whether or not i have heard them.. and if i havent i will give them a listen.

I will say that Big L is easiest the best head of the Hydra... being between Biggie, Tupac, and Big L... sometimes ppl throw Jay Z in there too... none of which are that good to me save Big L.

wale's got some decent shit but his other stuff sucks. reks has a hot promotional song called pray for me (suicide note) which is my favorite song by him. I love outkast, kanye west has his moments, not on his recent albums.

Besides, black ppl created rap, so even if they were all trash, they already made the whole shit possible ... kinda like NY ... their dues are already paid, not ti discredit any one.

I stopped caring how clever the things rappers say are a while ago, I just want the shit to be hard and the flow to be good....I don't care what a rapper has to say about the economic crisis, religion or aliens.

Lil Wayne is almost like the posterchild now for a wack rapper who is ridiculously successful.....if u heard Lil Wayne prior to the Carter 3....particularly the Carter 2 you would change ur mind i think...The thing is he isnt trying and the sad part is a track like Lollipop was the hottest song of the year....If you were Lil wayne and u put out a near classic in carter 2....an album u prolly put a shit load of effort into...only to eclipse those sales with a super dumbed down album....Thats what sells now...Truth is that most artists who are being lyrical are selling to the people who truly appreciate lyricism. And the number of people who appreciate lyricism/ real hip hop is heavily outweighed by the ones who just want that hot sounding beat/ swag bullshit....

I distinctly remember when Lil Wayne first saying he was the best rapper alive i thought it was blasphemous...I heard the Carter 2 front to back and it really didnt seem like much of a stretch to me....Now though..i hate him.

Jay-z, Crooked, Buddens, Nas, Royce, Lupe, J Cole, Wale, Joell, Ye', Buckshot, Common, Talib, Mos Def, Wayne 05/06,

I agree that Bis is over rated but I still think he's ill, and I agree that Wayne used to be a lot better, but I'd put him closer to decent than the best of anything.

What about battle rappers?  I guess Mook is over rated as well but he's still dope for what he does.  What about Math?  I think some one mentioned NoCan ...

Did any one mention Kurupt?  Killah Priest?  Ras Kass?

andre 3000... see darric i feel like your asking for lyricism, not rap. Rap is also performance, a lot of the people that have been named and you denied as good are great performers, and can capture and audience while delivering a message. See iv heard some amazing lyricist who aren't shit when it comes to performing (90% of goldmic)... but ya. theres my 2 cents

Yo..
The Majority of Hip-Hop.. Especially threw the media eyes are black
people... "most are mainstream buffoons"? Thats kinda hatin.. In the
wrong direction.. You Cant say people wouldnt be hatin on 85% of the
white rappers if it was only like 4 mainstream black rappers.. Most
black rappers arent mainstream buffoons.. People who talk that dumb
shit get the deals cuz thats what they want promoted.. People like good
music.. Doesnt have to be gangsta, bling bling, bitches and hoes..
Without that we can still identify wit good music, You gotta ask why
the mainstream gives deals to those lames instead of the real "superior
lyricist".. Black or white, or asian or latin... The game could be
filled with exactly the kinda emcees ur talkin about, but they dont get
deals.. Dont get exposed... Cant hate the player in this one...

They
makin boys in tight ass nut huggers popular... Its gonna get alot worse
before it gets alot better.. But I couldnt even begin to name "Good
black rappers".... Thats like askin somebody to name mean pit bulls...
Its probably about 25+ "Good black rappers" in every major urban city
in america.. And I cant say the numbers are different for any other
race.. Its all kinda talent out there.. Its pretty obvious that
"Mainstream Hip-Hop" Is supposed to look exactlly how you see it..

Darric

The comment was supposed to sound slightly antagonistic just to invigorate a response. It really has nothing to do with race honestly. There are alot of garbage white mainstream rappers too. Thats just how it works... Why it is that shit sells I guess I can never fully understand. The lowest common I guess... its thanks to the lowest common.

Also.. I must differ from most.. I kind of need a whole package in an emcee.. I cant really listen intensely to someone that has ie alot of flow but shitty lyrics... or bullshit spoken word lyrics with no flow... its not to say that I dont casually listen to classics... who doesnt sing along with LL when he explains that his momma said that he should knock whoever out?

Cam Ron is wack.. only niggas i'd fuck with from dipset would be 40 Cal and Hell Rell.. J.R. Writer is better then all of them but he's Dominican so maybe u latin rappers have an advantage over us on some gangster shit aye darric?? lol

Well I see there are a vast amount of underground niggas mentioned here which is cool.. However I see there are some names missing like them niggas from KillaArmy, esp Killa Sin.. I'd also have to say Poison Pen, Kool Keith and all his personas, Mr. Lif, Pharoah Monche, M.F. Grimm (and maybe M.F. DOOM, and fuck all of ya'll for hatin on Loaded Lux.. proves what kind of weirdoesw are around here..

Krazie Bone, Twista, Chamillionare (Thats Right, i'm naming off some midwest niggas so what?), Ludacris, Z-ro and of course Scarface.. AND PROOF (R.I.P.)

Some west coast niggas not mentioned were Sly Boogie, Yukmouth, Murs, Opio, Del... i'd say NWA but Darric would probably shit his pants LOL..

so anyway everyone else that has been metioned already I fucks with except for lil wayne, even his first two carter albums, which were his(gillie da kid's) best work, didnt impress me much.. canibus is kind of over-underated if u get what i'm sayin but if not then too bad cause i'm not explaining it..

it's kind of hard to deny black people are good at rapping and creating the rap genre as a whole..
