Lambert Post a Comment (0 Comments) May 17, 2008 I myself am a fan of this man. He came from a street fighting background only to hook up with Bas Rutten and truely hone his skills. He has a phenomenal yet still untapped ground game. But what else would you expect given that his trainer is a former Pancase champ. Meriwether and Abbott were push overs, but not because of lack of skill on their half. Only because of the pure physical dominance of Kimbo. You can't deny that this man will quickly become a top 10 fighter in the world and a champion on his show. Post a Comment | View 4 Comments May 17, 2008 Thats hard to answer given his first dissapoint also put on display his superior striking. But you can never lean on one thing for that long. it was only a matter of time before Mir found that leg. He has to understand 1 dimensional fighters lose in the UFC. I feel Dana should not renew his contract when it comes time untill the point that Lesnar has bulked up on some ground skills. And i said GROUND NOT GROUND AND POUND..there is a difference Post a Comment | View 8 Comments 05/24/2008
ya but those krav maga fellas are tough i'd considered taking it but really concentrating on mma right now and just need to get my submissions right 05/24/2008
yea i have done muay thai for 5 years - it's the daddy huh? and before that i done kickboxing when i was really young. Recently started in BJJ, have been training that for about a year. have also tried the following martial arts: Karate Judo Krav Maga (not really a martial art) 05/24/2008
st.pierre is also a well versed bjj fighter...that comment is just based on the fact that most tkd karate etc. fighters fall when caught in a clinch..they're uncomfortable there..they're trained against people who are doing the same art...USUALLY that doesnt translate well to mma...machida is kinda one sided...not saying he's a bad fighter just one sided..he's been through a list of pretty big name fighters...but i think when matched against a grappler like ortiz he won't be pulling out a v...maybe against a pure scrapper like bj penn but i don't think he has this fight....and yes i've done muay thai for 12 yrs wrestled for 2 yrs less and recently started vale judo 05/22/2008
you are very wrong. Machida's style is very different and he is great at working counters and the harder his opponent pushes the better he does. 'he is a karate kid, good for kids getting picked on but..' But what? But GSP is one of the best P4P fighters out there and he is a 'karate kid'. 05/17/2008
machidos a karate kid...good sport for kids getting picked on in school but when you pit that in a cage against a grappler like ortiz i dont see machido comin out the winner 05/17/2008
looking forward to this one! Penn for sure!! Silva split decision is a good point cause i see jardine lasting till the end. Ortiz will be a good fight - i hope he does what he used to do and doesnt come out looking washed up |
